AI intersects directly with client confidentiality, professional judgment, ethical obligations, and firm reputation. People need clear expectations, training, and accountability. Processes must include documented workflows, review steps, and escalation paths. Platforms must integrate with existing security, identity, and data protections.
When these elements are aligned, AI becomes a strategic capability. When they are not, it becomes an unmanaged risk hiding in plain sight.
Before a firm can claim to use AI safely, it must understand how AI is already being used today. An AI readiness assessment provides that clarity. It identifies where AI is already present, both formally and informally. It evaluates which tools align with the firm’s environment and obligations. It highlights governance gaps that need to be addressed. It defines the guardrails required before usage expands further.
This is not about slowing innovation. It is about creating conditions where AI can be used confidently, responsibly, and at scale.
Firms that begin with readiness avoid reactive decisions later, often made after an incident, complaint, or regulatory issue forces the conversation.
